The Nikkei news paper said that, there was a plan that Miyazaki would visit TOYOTA's animation section to educate the TOYOTA staff, and when Miyazaki came, the other section's staff (car development, design, product) would join this study.
It seems TOYOTA would like to get some kind of spirit or thinking of the great master of the animation to rise their creativity. So, it does not mean TOYOTA would like to create the animation simply, but means they would like to transform themselves to "Newtype" of carmaker.
Probably, they are stuck upon car making with the world economic collapse and too further progress of car design. The future car should communicate with people more closely and naturally, so Miyazaki's analogue techniques and sense would be very effective to the new features in "Newtype" cars.
Once, Miyazaki's work called from animation specialists as "It smell the shit of horse" that means an unuseful antique work (1980s). But, the would is attracted by his "Behind the times" animations now.
If you want to use the famous Japanese idiom "It smell the shit of horse" in Japanese, use "馬糞臭い (Maguso Kusai)".
Thus, TOYOTA will make a cars that smell "Shit of Horse" and it will likely be the "Behind the times" works in the future.
