Miyazaki said, "I don't like to put ranking on the movie"

Miyazaki Hayao (67) who was exhibiting latest work "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" in "Competition section" of the 65th Venice International Film Festival faced the audience in the main hall of the film festival on August 31.
Miyazaki said with a expectation "I'm enjoying how the people in other nations feel about the different-species-marriage like that the crane became a beautiful damsel of a fairly tale in island nations of us". When he was asked about his next work he said, "It will be decided by another person's intention because I'll be exceed 70 years old at the next chance".

Miyazaki's animation infiltrated to the world by "Spirited Away" that won the U.S. Academy Award long animation movie prize of in 2003. Journalist seats of 200 was full, and there were standing looking of 20 people or more in the screening hall.
For reporters, people who request the signature of Miyazaki crowded after the screen had ended, so the staff of the film festival was in a large panic. At the preview of "Ponyo~" for the press at the night of the 30th that was the first screening in Venice was also good reaction.
In addition, there were some "Strange phenomenons" people who hummed "Poonyo,Ponyo,Ponyo..." of the theme song came out one after another after the screen ended too. Although Miyazaki said, "I don't like to put ranking on the movie" the expectation of winning of the Golden Lion prize is increasing.

In the 65th Venice International Film Festival, an official screening of Miyazaki Hayao's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" got the highest votes by both the audience and the critic of movie paper "CIAK" that distributed in the film festival hall every day on a local time September 1. "CIAK" publishes the votes by ten critic and ten general audiences every day.
"Ponyo~" came in 1st place though 9 of 21 had been screened in competition sections until August 31. Especially, the general audience's evaluation for "ponyo~" is very high, 60% of people had put above five points(=full marks) in this paper.
