Blog name change

I finally decided that this blog's name should be changed.
From "Manga Culture Japan" to "Manga Culture Japan ( Supernatural)".

Nowadays, I cannot update here so frequently, because my interest is not only Manga and Anima.
So, I have to re-design and re-start this blog again. from NOW.

Sakura Gakuin

Long time no see.
very sorry.

I'm wondering how this blog will continue.

I'm thinking that some old archives should be deleted. Because, some YouTube links are already disappeared.
And possibly I can introduce my another Ameba blog that contains my original Manga.

However, I found a YouTube video that is already known in abroad.

3 people lost "Leone d'Oro" in Venice.

Unfortunately 3 famous Japanese movie directors Miyazaki, Oshii, and Kitano lost prize of "Leone d'Oro" at the 65th Venice International Film Festival.
All 3 people won other prizes but I forgot the names because I can not remember correct spell of these prizes....sorry.
Therefore, today, I explain my opinion about 2 animation directors.
I don't watch Kitano's work so don't describe about it, by the way I'm not into Kitano's movie any more.(I hate them because they are very cheap.)

Anyway, "The Sky Crawlers" is a good animation but target audience of this movie is very small. I think the people who fit to watch this movie are around 10 to around 20 years old, because over 30 years old people might think this movie would be green or wet behind the ears.
In Venice, the number of audience who watched "The Sky Crawlers" were 70% of sheets of the theater, additionally some people got out from the theater before movie's end,(This movie has a short important scene after ending-song) so Oshii worried about it little.
Getting out from the theatre before end is a correct reaction for this movie.
One news paper said "Venice doesn't need two cartoons from Japan".

Oshii glowed little with creation of this movie but this work is not enough for contentment of mature people or child.I watched "Tachiguishi Retsuden (立ち喰い師列伝)" on TV that was created by Oshii before "The Sky Crawlers" three months ago, it was so awful to see so I didn't continue to see all this movie to the end.
Foreign people sometimes give applause to Oshii's work, but they are attracted but tricked by showy action/battle scenes, theme of Oshii's work is not so high nor elegant.
However, we can find a good point of Oshii that he selects and educates many good staff and leave some important parts of movie to their hands. Therefore if Oshii dies, some young creators rise instead of him.
On the other hand Miyazaki makes script, continuity, and other many important jobs for his animation, so if Miyazaki dies Ghibli has no successor of him, that is a big problem of Ghibli in near future and some people criticize it severely.

I watched a TV program that was a documentary of Miyazaki's work for "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea", in this program Miyazaki worried and stopped continuity work for few months because he could not imagine the last scene but other parts were already progressing even all the scripts weren't finished because Miyazaki didn't finish yet.
His work is very exceptional because if there is a movie that is starting without completed scripts or continuities this might cause a big failure.
Creation/production style of Ghibli seriously depends on Miyazaki's ability so if he dies while new movie's creation, it would be like Bruce Lee's "Game of Death(死亡遊戯)".

Ghibli's popularity also deeply depends on Miyazaki, so if he died Ghible might be bankruptcy soon.
Miyazaki has strong character so many staff in Ghibli gathering him are very good but very obedient to Miyazaki.
So works of other Ghibli's young directors are not so fine, they are stereotyped and it feels week.
Ghibli needs to educate or give the chances/posts of direct new works to young abilities but it will be very difficult till Miyazaki dies.
I am worrying about Japanese animations near future.

Miyazaki said, "I don't like to put ranking on the movie"

Miyazaki Hayao (67) who was exhibiting latest work "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" in "Competition section" of the 65th Venice International Film Festival faced the audience in the main hall of the film festival on August 31.
Miyazaki said with a expectation "I'm enjoying how the people in other nations feel about the different-species-marriage like that the crane became a beautiful damsel of a fairly tale in island nations of us". When he was asked about his next work he said, "It will be decided by another person's intention because I'll be exceed 70 years old at the next chance".

Miyazaki's animation infiltrated to the world by "Spirited Away" that won the U.S. Academy Award long animation movie prize of in 2003. Journalist seats of 200 was full, and there were standing looking of 20 people or more in the screening hall.
For reporters, people who request the signature of Miyazaki crowded after the screen had ended, so the staff of the film festival was in a large panic. At the preview of "Ponyo~" for the press at the night of the 30th that was the first screening in Venice was also good reaction.
In addition, there were some "Strange phenomenons" people who hummed "Poonyo,Ponyo,Ponyo..." of the theme song came out one after another after the screen ended too. Although Miyazaki said, "I don't like to put ranking on the movie" the expectation of winning of the Golden Lion prize is increasing.

In the 65th Venice International Film Festival, an official screening of Miyazaki Hayao's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" got the highest votes by both the audience and the critic of movie paper "CIAK" that distributed in the film festival hall every day on a local time September 1. "CIAK" publishes the votes by ten critic and ten general audiences every day.
"Ponyo~" came in 1st place though 9 of 21 had been screened in competition sections until August 31. Especially, the general audience's evaluation for "ponyo~" is very high, 60% of people had put above five points(=full marks) in this paper. Kitano Takeshi's "Achilles and the Turtle" was down to 3rd place from 1st place by this.

"Spectator prize" is installed in this paper based on the evaluation of votes by general audience, and it seems to be able to have a great expectation of winning by "Ponyo~". Moreover, some other papers said "The evaluation of the audiences and the critics has agreed, Asia and Europe both like Ponyo" (Repubblica) and "Miyazaki makes animation to poetry" (Stampa) spoke very highly, also some Italian newspapers on August 1 described about the excitement on the official screening of "Ponyo~" that became the standing ovation for five minutes.
They also delivered a tribute to a warning message in "Ponyo~" for the environmental destruction, with Miyazaki's word "We made it for the child".

"Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" accepted a loud applause in Venice.

An official screening of the Miyazaki Hayao's "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" at the 65th Venice International Film Festival was done in the August 31, it became the standing ovation of about five minutes after screened, and audience in the hall widely excited.
Deeply moved Miyazaki loudly described appreciative words "Thank you very much!!" toward the audience.

The excitement of the Miyazaki fan were terrific before starting of the screen. The tickets for 1,078 seats of the screening hall is sold-out on the same day.
Miyazaki was asked to put his signature by his fun anywhere he arrived, so he said in perplexity (when the signature was asked) "I usually put my signature to the book and DVD with no intention and want to put to anybody but it's puzzled because confusion occurs as much as possible though a lot of people want it".
When Miyazaki appeared in the red carpet, impatient fan waited for shouted "Miya! Miya! " with the fuss. And their applause did not finish for about three minutes by the standing ovation when Miyazaki entered the screening hall, then Miyazaki asked to sit them down by the gesture, "Please sit down" at last the audience stopped their loud applause.

While screening it Miyazaki went outside of the hall because he accepted coverages of TVs and said, "I do not want to see my movie any longer because there were many mistakes that as I thought 'Hang it' even while it was making...it's trade secret..(laughter)".
Meanwhile, the laughing happened to pretty movement of Ponyo and the audience watched/stared into the screen in the hall.

And, the voice of "Bravo" flew toward Miyazaki who appeared to the hall again when ending was faced. To our regret, the theme song started for the ending of movie was scratched out by the voice of applause though there were "Fujioka Fujimaki" who are the singers of "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" in the hall (Ohashi Nozomi was absent for the school), because of the hall has lightened just after the starting the song.
Miyazaki was relieved and said "It was regrettable that the hall had lightened though the movie had not ended yet. However, we can meet good audience is very happy. And it is very good to show our new work here because we couldn't show our new work at last time (2005 when 'Howl's moving Castle' lost Golden Lion award )".

Although the expectation of that becomes first experience of winning by an animation for the Golden Lion award and it's winning announcement on August 6, Miyazaki talked with a smile "I do not care about the winning by the work whether it's a movie or an animation. The people watched my movie will be our fan is very pleased, it is good enough".
